Samal Duggins applauds St Kitts and Nevis basketball victory in invitational tournament

The Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins, congratulated St Kitts and Nevis Basketball team for securing victory in the invitational tournament taken place at Montserrat.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins, congratulated the St Kitts and Nevis Basketball team for securing victory in the invitational tournament held at Montserrat.

Minister Duggins also extended felicitations to Captain Nashorn Maynard. He was also awarded with the MABA invitational MVP award.

Meanwhile, Minister Duggins also congratulated Dario Esdaille, the recipient of a plaque for the most assists for the tournament.

Minister Duggins added “This victory is truly a result of the player’s tireless team efforts, determination and hard work. This dominating win of the players has brought glory to the nation.”

It is to be noted this championship was successful for the SKN team, as they won all three games.

Moreover, the game was played between three teams, including British Virgin Island, St Kitts and Nevis and Montserrat. The games between the respective teams started on Monday, 11th December 2023 and continued till 14th December.

The first match was played between BVI and St Kitts and Nevis, and the game was won by St Kitts and Nevis by 9 scores as the final score was 70-61.

The second game was played between Montserrat and British Virgin Island, which was won by Montserrat with a score of 78-74.

Furthermore, St Kitts and Nevis faced Montserrat in the third game and the match was again won by the SKN basketball team. It is to be noted the national team of St Kitts and Nevis was managed by Wendell Pemberton.

St Kitts and Nevis Football Association also took it to their official social media handle to appreciate the tireless work of the Head Coach, John Spezia and Assistant Coaches, Sheldon Pemberton and Dalton Esdaille, over the six months in preparing the team for the tournament.

The St Kitts and Nevis Amateur Basketball Association also thanked the Government of St Kitts and Nevis as well as the St Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee for their support and contribution in making the entire trip possible.
