Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia’s King player Roston Chase led his team West Indies into their first World Cup match win by scoring 42 runs in 27 balls. His significant knock played a crucial role in helping West Indies chase down their target in just the 19th over.

Notably, the toss between West Indies and Papua New Guinea was won by the WI Captain, who decided to bowl first and stated that it was a fresh wicket and they would able to restrict the batters, which would then make it easy for the batters to chase the target.

Sese Bau of PNG scored his first half century of the season, who played the knock with a strike rate of 116.28. No other player could able to build a strong partnership which resulted in final score of 136 runs with 8 wickets down for PNG.  They set a modest target of 137 for the West Indies players, however, the two-time champions were undone by clear and disciplined bowling by players of PNG.

The score of West Indies were 97 with the loss of 5 wickets, with just four overs left when Roston Chase came to bat and played an impressive innings for his team. He got a support from Andre Russell who is known for his power hitting, scoring crucial 15 runs for his team to lead them towards victory.

Their unbroken sixth-wicket partnership of 40 runs in just 18 balls won over the hearts of the entire audience and their performance showcases their confidence and determination towards handling such toughest situations.

Saint Lucia’s Roston Chase became Master of all trades with his blistering 42 off 27 balls and economical bowling figures of 26 runs in 4 overs, he dominated the entire game against Papua New Guinea and also clinched the Man of the Match award.

Moreover, the next game of West Indies has been scheduled to take place against Uganda on 9th June. Following that they will face New Zealand on 13th June and Afghanistan on 18th June. The players and management team of West Indies is optimistic about their performance and have promised to claim the title for the third time.
