Ramesh Subasinghe appointed new Head Coach of West Indies Cricket

Cricket West Indies announced a former Sri Lankan cricketer, Ramesh Subasinghe as the new Head Coach for the West Indies Cricket. The newly appointed coach has promised to promote excellence and work for the development of West Indies Cricket.
The recently appointed new head coach holds a lot of former experience as he has also served as the Head Coach of the New Zealand Cricket Men’s Development Programme and the Otago Cricket Associations Pathways Head Coach and Talent Development Manager.
Along with that, he is also the holder of ICC Global Level 3 coaching qualification and is a qualified Coach Development with New Zealand Cricket. With his selection as the Head Coach, he has promised to foster young cricketers and nurture their talent and passion for the game.
On becoming the coach, he expressed his excitement and felt gratitude for the incredible opportunity he received. He also expressed his desire to collaborate with the natural talents and the passionate cricketing communities in the West Indies.
Ramesh Subasinghe has also expertise in several areas which will benefit the entire team as a whole. These areas include, technical remediations and sports bio-mechanics, injury prevention, bowling loads management, team and individual holistic skills development and developing and implementing high-performance systems.
The process for selecting the Head Coach was very long, as 53 applicants tried for the position, out of which 12 candidates were shortlisted, and 6 individuals were identified as finalists. During the selection process, a lot of things were kept noticed from qualifications, experience and their vision for development.
The people who were involved in the selection process includes, CWI Board Director and Chair of Cricket Development & Performance Committee, Enoch Lewis, Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe, High Performance Manager, Graeme West and HR Manager, Oneka Martin-Bird.
The selection committee has ensured that selection of Ramesh Subasinghe as a Head coach will play a significant role in shaping the next generation of cricketing talent.
