Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew, attended the launch of the Elevate Programme on Friday, which focused on human development through training.

It is to be noted that the programme was led by PS Naeemah Hazelle. This initiative marks a noteworthy step in their efforts to provide a truly substitutive pathway that will upraise the adults and youth who might be at risk of entering into conflict.

It will also look after those who already find themselves in risky circumstances.

“It was a pleasure to witness the launch of Elevate yesterday afternoon. The Elevate Programme, spearheaded by PS Naeemah Hazelle, is focused on human development through training. This initiative marks a significant step forward in our efforts to provide a truly alternative pathway that will elevate our youth and adults who may be at risk of entering into conflict with the law or those who already find themselves in such circumstances”, the prime minister stated.

It is to be added in PM Drew’s remarks that ‘Elevate’ is supposed to operate from its new office on the Bay Road at Basseterre.

Objectives of the Elevate Programme

The Elevate Programme basically aims to engage and empower the vulnerable groups of the Federation and offer them systematic, structured and legitimate opportunities to transform their lives and contribute positively to society.

Further, this specific programme provides multiple programme options, which include life skills empowerment workshops, entrepreneurship development, technical and vocational training and opportunities in agriculture.

PM Drew took to his official Facebook handle to share this news. Many people expressed their joy by commenting on the post.

One such comment by a person named Sheldon Benjamin reads, “Making a positive difference every day and the cumulative value thereof.”

Another person named Nicole Edwards-Francis wrote, “This is commendable. Wishing the team every success.”

Structured training under the Elevate Programme is scheduled to take place twice daily and four days per week.

Additionally, in July 2023, The Elevate Programme replaced the troubled Alternative Lifestyle Pathways Programme (ALPP), which was commonly known as the “Peace Program.”

PM Drew took the opportunity to update the nation on the development and progress which was being made with this particular program.

Noting this, he further emphasized that the programme is primarily aimed at human development training and setting it apart from its predecessor.
