PM Dickon Mitchell attends CTO sustainable tourism conference, aims to enhance sustainability
The Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell attended the Opening Ceremony of the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) 2024 Sustainable Tourism Conference. He emphasised building a resilient nation and leading it towards sustainability across the 5Ps.

Grenada: The Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell attended the Opening Ceremony of the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) 2024 Sustainable Tourism Conference. He emphasized on building a resilient nation and leading it towards sustainability across the 5Ps.
The 5Ps stand for People, Planet, Prosperity, Purpose and Partnership. The conference aims to advance sustainable tourism policies and practices by focusing on 5Ps throughout the Caribbean.
The conference was also attended by Adrian Thomas, the Minister for Tourism, the Creative Economy, and Culture, Senator; Lennox Andrews, Minister for Economic Development, Planning, Agriculture and Lands, Forestry, Marine Resources, and Cooperatives; Dessima Williams, the President of the Senate.
During the conference, PM Mitchell shed light on the significance of inclusivity and requested all the farmers, fishers, agro-processors and others to adopt certain sustainable practices and methods which can be used to elevate the nation towards growth and development, ensuring the well-being of all individuals and the entire society.
He also shed light on the importance of bringing all the citizens together to build a climate-resilient nation in order to tackle the upcoming challenges that small-island nations face due to climate change.
Therefore, the administration of the country is taking several measures to lead the nation towards sustainability and trying to preserve natural resources. It will directly lead to generating huge revenues and enhance the economic conditions of the nation.
Moreover, Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell also highlighted the continuous efforts of the administration towards developing various sectors of the nation by adopting sustainable methods. The development in sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, energy and many more will result in bringing numerous travellers to the island nation which will promote tourism.
The advancement in tourism will directly benefit the economic conditions of the nation and the revenues earned would then be used for the growth of the country.
Adam Stewart, the keynote speaker of the conference and Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts International also stressed the importance of developing public-private partnerships and working together harmoniously. He also asked all the citizens of the nation to come together and unite as one to lead the nation towards advancements and sustain the legacy of the Caribbean culture.
