Ole Mas Festival to hit streets of Dominica today
Ole Mas Festival is all set to hit Dominica, the island nation, today, i.e. Saturday, 13 January 2024. The event will start at 4:00 am. The starting point of the parade is the Poree Playing Field.

Roseau, Dominica: Ole Mas Festival is all set to hit Dominica, the island nation, today, i.e. Saturday, 13 January 2024. The event will start at 4:00 am. The starting point of the parade is the Poree Playing Field.
Notably, Ole Mas is a celebration where African traditions meet the vibrant spirit of Carnival. The Ole Mas festival is a part of Dominica’s Carnival – Mas Dominik. The Carnival started on 6 January and will continue till 12 February 2024.
Moreover, the event will held on the streets of Pointe Michel, which will burst into life with beautiful rhythms and will be taken over by artists like Sensay, Lapo Kabwit, Stilt Walkers, BWA, Big Bottom Women and many more.
The festival is celebrated to keep the vibrant culture of the island nation alive. The event is a beautiful way of exhibiting the colours, costumes, spirit, music and dance of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
The streets of Pointe Michelle are all set to become the stage for the traditional masquerades from across the island. Such events also play a pivotal role in enhancing the nation’s tourism sector, as they are a great way of attracting visitors.
Further, the parade will embark from Poree Playing Field, and then they will visit Tom Road, Savon Road, Galba Lane, Villna Lane, Dong Monjani, and Archie Boulevard and will reach their final destination at Sibuli area.
It is to be noted that a press conference was conducted at the Dominica Festival Commission Press Conference on Ole Mas Festival 2024. Emphasizing the importance of the festival, the Commission stated that Ole Mas Festival is the real Mas. There is one event that works favourably and captures the beautiful tradition of Africa, and the true and unwavering spirit of Carnival is the Ole Mas Carnival.
“Without a doubt, last year was a breath of fresh air for a festival. Once it is nice, you do it twice, and Point Michel is the place to be on Saturday, 13 January 2024, from 4 am,” stated the Commission.
The residents of the island nation have also expressed their excitement about attending the event. As one of the citizens with the Facebook account named Sonia Charles commented, “Yeah man, let’s do it, man. It is a bigger and greater one. Another person with the Facebook handle of Angela Darroux commented the following: “The event is always so beautifully done.”
