Saint Lucia: A training session was held recently for the National Climate Change Committee (NCCC) under the theme “Showcasing Saint Lucia’s Digital GCF No-Objection Procedure Tool”.
The workshop was fashioned for people submitting project proposals to the Green Climate Fund (GCF), which supports climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts.
Nadia Wells Hyacinth, a focal point for the Green Climate Fund in Saint Lucia, explained that the No-Objection tool is a requirement for accessing Green Climate Funding.
“The No-Objection tool is what we utilize in the Department of Economic Development as part of our normal procedures for assessing projects,” she said. “We do not do it on our own but regularly interact with other agencies for input because, as part of the GCF’s procedures, it is a requirement to have the No-Objection procedure showing that other entities have provided input into the process.”
The No-Objection procedure ensures that the projects to be undertaken are in keeping with national climate change strategies and policies, as well as Saint Lucia’s national laws.
The Digital GCF No-Objection Procedure workshop was held at the Bay Gardens Hotel in Saint Lucia.
