Cuba: The Cuban President – Miguel Diaz-Canel, has thanked the Mexican authorities for their support and solidarity following harder economic, trade and financial sanctions that we impose against Cuba.

He cited that “Cuba faces a campaign of hatred, misinformation, manipulation and lies on influential digital platforms that ignore ethical boundaries. That is why Mexico’s solidarity provokes admiration.”

The Cuban leader stated that the visit carried particular friendly importance as his country continues to suffer a criminal war, with a hardened US economic blockade following the Covid-19 pandemic.

He further remembered that Mexico was the only nation that did not cut ties with Cuba when the Caribbean country was expelled from the Organization of American States in 1962.

Following the statement, Diaz-Canel added, “I pay tribute to the sustained, invariable, passionate & the consistent solidarity that we always find in – this land, which all the Cubans love as our own.”

While the Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador once again urged the Joe-Biden administration to end its more than half-century trade embargo against Cuba. He has called the sanctions as – policy Pervers.

He further noted that any nation must not take advantage of other nation’s misfortune for their own agenda. He added that he believed his US counterpart – Joe Biden has the political sensitivity to put an end to the injustices that have been committed against the Caribbean island by sanctions designed to destroy the island’s economy and cause social change.

The Mexican President also commended Cuba for withstanding decades of the US sanctions, adding, “Having suffered 62 years without submission is an indisputable historic feat.”

Following the statement, he noted that, “The government which I represent respectfully calls on the US government to lift the embargo against Cuba because no nation has the right to subdue another people, another nation.”
