Trinidad and Tobago: Machel Montano won the National Calypso Monarch 2024, which took place on Sunday, 11th October 2024, at the Dimanche Gras at the Queens Park Savannah. He performed his winning song “Soul of Calypso.” He mesmerizes the audience with his performance and cliches the first spot.
Machel Montano defeated 12 other competitors to emerge victorious and won the prestigious title along with the substantial prize money of $500,000 and a luxurious Suzuki Grand Vitara courtesy of Lifestyle Motors vehicle worth up to $350,000.
Montano is the first artist to win various titles, including Young Kings, Road March, Soca Monarch, and Calypso Monarch. He has claimed the title of Road Monarch ten times and received the title of Soca Monarch six times.
The second and third positions were secured by the former winners of Calypso Monarch, Karene Asche and Roderick ‘Chuck’ Gordon, respectively. Notably, Karene gave an electrifying performance on “No Excuse” and captivated the crowd. He was awarded a cash prize of $500,000
Roderick ‘Chuck’ Gordon earned praise for his remarkable performance of “Charlsie,” securing the third spot in the competition and receiving a cash prize of $350,000.

The finals of Calypso Monarch offered the visitors various thrilling performances and entertained them to the full extent. Moreover, Roxanne Omala and Joseph Lewis were crowned the Queen and King of Carnival, respectively.
Various residents of the community also took to their social media accounts and extended congratulations to the winners and expressed their views on the performances of the calypsonians.
One person with a Facebook account, Annie John, commented, “I was fortunate to see Machel’s performance last night, and from the time I witnessed it, I know he had it in the bag, as we sometimes say.”
Another person with a Facebook account, Nucky De, wrote, “Machel has the resources to produce a well-orchestrated performance; that’s one thing they can’t touch him with. If you have to outmanoeuvre him, you have to bring your A game.”
