Jamaica receives the shipment of oxygen

In a tweet, Tufton urged the citizens of Jamaica to get vaccinated as the country is struggling with the entrance of the third wave of the Covid-19 virus

The shipment of the oxygen had arrived in Jamaica. The distribution of oxygen has been started on the island. Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton stated.

Mr Tufton thanks the Kingston Wharves for sending a special unit of operators to unload the ship and thanks to the public health team, customs and IGL for this voluntary effort.

Minister Tufton said that the shortage of oxygen was noted on Sunday by the Health Ministry. In a statement, thanked the officials and other authorities of the ministry who have been working hard to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Health Minister Tufton said, “Bulk oxygen has arrived with distribution starting this morning at 4.45 am (local time). With lives at stake given the high number of hospitalizations associated with COVID-19, the Ministry of Health & Wellness is pursuing all efforts to support public health facilities that are low or otherwise now out of oxygen. All hospitals – through the regional technical directors at the regional health authorities (RHAs) and senior medical officers – have, in the interim, been instructed on oxygen conservation. At the same time, the island awaits the restoration of supplies.”

According to the ministry, the hospitals of Jamaica lows in the supply of oxygen, and many of them were in need of oxygen. Ministry currently is in conversation with the suppliers of oxygen that would be increasing the stores on Monday and Tuesday in Jamaica.

According to the medical teams of Jamaica, the country had recorded 929 new covid-19 cases and 21 deaths. With the log of new cases, the total number of infections moved to 66,663.
