Grenada: The interCaribbean Airways unveiled the custom painted ATR 42-500, VQ-TGD aircraft featuring the flag of Grenada on its tail and “Spirit of Grenada” on its nose.
The unveiling of the InterCaribbean “Spirit of Grenada” aircraft was held at the Maurice Bishop International Airport with a vision to celebrate the new chapter began between the Tourism Authority of Grenada and interCaribbean Airlines.
This aircraft was operated by an all- Grenadian crew, Captain Therron Charles, First Officer Andrew Hopkin, and Flight Attendant Brittney Patterson St. Clair. They all extended heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Grenada for their unwavering support and commitment to enhance the airlift sector of the country.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell and other government ministers who also met with the Grenadian flight crew who successfully landed the “Spirit of Grenada” at the Maurice Bishop International Airport.
While shedding light on this ceremony, the Prime Minister and the Minister for Civil Aviation expressed his excitement and stated that he was thrilled to share the moment with everyone in attendance. “This ceremony highlights the significance of this event for our nation, especially as we celebrate our 50th year of independence,” noted PM Dickon Mitchell.
The PM noted that this new look of the aircraft is the first of its kind in the region and they are extremely proud to be the trailblazers. He further asserted that as they are welcoming this new brand, they are all set to make their mark in the skies and embrace the future of aviation for Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.
PM Mitchell also acknowledged the All-Grenadian crew and congratulated them and stated that these crew members will play a huge role in bringing large number of passengers to the country. He also extended them best wishes and stated “May your flights be filled with courage, discovery, professionalism, and the Grenadian spirit that is the backbone of our national pride.”
Moreover, the Prime Minister further added that as the aircraft soared through Caribbean skies, it carried the warmth, rich culture, and spirit that made Grenada truly special and unique. He also mentioned about the relationship with interCaribbean Airways and stated that this new aircraft marks a new era of partnership between the airline and the nation which would result towards growth and development.
