Havana Blast: Caribbean leaders express sympathies and sincere condolences to Govt, people of Cuba

Caribbean: The Republic of Cuba witnessed a massive and powerful explosion on Friday. The blast destroyed a five-star hotel in central Havana, which tore off the façade, blew out the windows, and destroyed the cars standing at the parking site.
As per the eyewitnesses, after the explosion, a massive cloud of dust and smoke was seen in the area of around 1 to 2 km.
Reportedly, the Havana hotel blast was caused because of a gas leak.
The rescue operation is underway, and ambulances and fire trucks tirelessly work at the scene. Police cordoned off the area and dispersed people who swarmed to the site.
President Miguel Diaz-Canel, accompanied by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero and National Assembly President Esteban Lazo, took stock of the site.
Leaders, politicians and prominent personalities; across the globe expressed condolences and sympathies to the Government of the Republic of Cuba. Many Caribbean leaders also took social media and shared their deepest solicitude.
Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, expressed profound condolences on behalf of the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. He added that the government and people of Dominica have been praying for the country’s recovery.
Prime Minister Skerrit took Twitter and wrote, “On behalf of the Government of Dominica, I express profound condolences to the Government and People of the Republic of Cuba, following a deadly explosion at a hotel in Havana on Friday.
The death toll rose to 25 on Saturday, with dozens injured.
Our prayers are with the families of those who perished in the blast. As we have always done, we stand in solidarity with the Cuban people”.
Prime Minister of St Lucia, Philip J Pierre, also expressed condolences to the Government and people of Cuba and prayed to the Lord to hear the prayers.
“I would like to publicly express my condolences to the people and the Government of the Republic of Cuba during this tragic time.
Let us pray for the loved ones and the families of those who have lost their lives due to the hotel blast in Havana. May their souls rest in peace.
We also pray for the recovery of the wounded and the safety of all emergency personnel.
Lord hear our prayers,” wrote PM Pierre.
