Guyana: Prez Ali attends Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club’s International Race of Champions
President of the Republic of Guyana Irfaan Ali joined thousands of race enthusiasts for the finale of the two-day Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club’s International Race of Champions on November 11, 2022, at the South Dakota Circuit, according to the post shared by the Office of President.

Guyana: President of the Republic of Guyana Irfaan Ali joined thousands of race enthusiasts for the finale of the two-day Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club’s International Race of Champions on November 11, 2022, at the South Dakota Circuit, according to the post shared by the Office of President.
Drivers from Guyana, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, USA and Jamaica, vied for the chequered flag on a rehabilitated and extended circuit. The extension was made possible by partnerships between the Government of Guyana, the GMR&SC and other stakeholders.
President Ali took the time to meet and interact with spectators gathered at the event; he was accompanied by Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charles Ramson Jr and other officials.
President Dr Irfaan Ali also posed with Guyana’s Mark Vieira, who defeated Barbadian Mark Maloney to win the Group 4 event of the GMR&SC’s Race of Champions at the South Dakota circuit.

Vieira dedicated the win to President Ali for his Government’s investment in the track. President also congratulated her for her mesmerizing victory in the tournament.
On the occasion of Remembrance Day 2022, President Ali also addressed the public and stated that the country and its citizens would remember the “supreme sacrifices” of the Guyanese, who fought during World War One and Two as they sought peace and freedom.
