Georgetown, Guyana: The Ministry of Labour of Guyana has recently shared an update regarding the training programmes to be held in Region 2.
According to the update by the Ministry, residents in Westburg and Dartmouth in Region Two (2) will soon be equipped with the skills and knowledge required to become licenced mechanics.
“This comes on the heels of the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) launching a four-month Motor Vehicle Servicing & Repairs training curriculum earlier on August 21, 2023,” the Ministry of Labour outlined.
It was made possible through a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Labour’s BIT and the Evergreen Paradise Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC). During the launch ceremony, the students also received their first toolset, allowing them to kick off their training programme as soon as possible; the update informed the general public.
As per the official statement, Joseph Hamilton, Minister of Labour, Mohammed Shaheed, Regional Technical Officer of the Board of Industrial Training (BIT), and other officials were present.
In addition to this, the Minister also used this occasion to visit the Electrical Installation and Joinery programmes at May 8 Secondary School, which includes thirty-three (33) trainees. Eighteen (18) trainees in the batch are receiving training in Electrical Installation, while the remainder are receiving training in Joinery.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Labour and the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) organise different training programmes for the growth and upliftment of the youth of Guyana.
