Guyana: A 38-year-old man was arrested for the offence of possessing 41.768 kgs of marijuana in the East Coast Demerara, Guyana.
It is to be noted that the suspect has been identified as Ramlall Ramidhal alias Jack, Field Supervisor of Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice.
Upon receiving the information, the authorities from Mahaicony Police Station stopped a motor car (PVV 1495). The car intercepted by the officers was parked on the southern side of Now or Never Public Road, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, facing West.
As per the information shared by the authorities of Guyana, the car was owned and driven by Ramlall Ramidhal. He was the only occupant sitting in the car. He was questioned by the officers, but he could not provide a relevant answer to any of the questions. Subsequently, the authorities held a search in the vehicle in his presence and found three bulky white salt bags in the car trunk.
Notably, all three bags contained parcels. The parcels were wrapped with suspected cannabis. The bag 1 contained eight parcels. Meanwhile, bag 2 and bag 3 contained 4 and 3 parcels, respectively. Ramlall Ramidhal was told of the offence he committed. He was arrested and cautioned regarding the same.

According to the reports, the suspect claimed that he was asked to pick up the three bags from No. 30 Village and drop them to Georgetown, where he would be paid for his work. However, the suspect refused to share the details of the person who asked him to do this work.
Therefore, the suspect was arrested and was taken to the Mahaicony Police Station along with the bags with suspected narcotics and a motor car. The authorities of Guyana weighed 15 parcels of cannabis, and on weighed, it amounted to 92 lbs or 41.768 kgs.
Various residents of the community also took to their social media accounts and shared their views on the matter. One person commented, “It is good that police are doing their duties so diligently, but they should focus on other criminal activities as well.”
