Earthquake measuring 6.2 magnitude jolts Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago: A magnitude of 6.2 earthquake struck Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday night. These tremors of quake were reported to be felt in St. Vincent and other Eastern Caribbean Island as well. The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre stated that the earthquake of 6.2 magnitude was recorded in the region at 11:58 pm, local time.

According to the information, no reports of any injury or deaths have been recorded yet. As per the preliminary reports shared by UW10 Seismic Research Centres, the earthquake’s epicentre was at Latitude 10.83 N and Longitude 62.37 W, with a depth of 46 km.

The tremors of quake were felt in Carúpano, Venezuela, 97 km, ENE, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, 97 km, WNW and San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, 119 km NW. The effects of the earthquake were confirmed by the residents in Diamonds, Brighton, Georgetown and other villages along the eastern coast.

The UWI held a preliminary location, which was calculated using computer algorithms. These reports are subjected to potential revisions and pending evaluation by SRC analysts.

The management has asked all the citizens to follow preventive measures in order to avoid any kind of threat or danger. The citizens of the affected areas have also been advised to stay updated regarding the information of weather disruption and earthquake.

Also, the Hurricane Season 2024 has already commenced from 1st June and is estimated to cause several destructions with the predicted passage of nearly 22 hurricanes.

Several citizens of the Caribbean region took to their social media accounts and expressed their concern over the tremors of the quake. They have asked each other to be vigilant towards the situation and ensure that they are prepared for every kind of threat.

One person with Facebook handle Franklyn Springer commented “Thats the Midnight cry We have to be ready because it is coming at a time when we least expect when most of us are sleeping. We have to take warning.”

Another person with Facebook account Josanne Jules commented the following “Weather event changes, Wars in many lands and Wickedness in high and low places, caused that heavy earthquake shakeup. Pray to God now.”
