Dominica: PM Roosevelt Skerrit raises concern over Pakistan floods, asks global community to stand together

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica – Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has recently raised his concern over the floods in Pakistan. Prime Minister Skerrit, the leader of a country, fighting against climate change, expressed solidarity with Pakistan during such a crucial hour.

PM Roosevelt Skerrit further mentioned that climate change is only and foremost the reason behind the destruction of the world, and now it is time to start taking responsibility for our actions.

Prime Minister took social media and stated, “The Commonwealth of Dominica stands in solidarity with #Pakistan at this time of crisis. Climate change is destroying the world, and it is now our time to take responsible actions.”

He also highlighted that at this crucial time, the world must stand together and ensure a safe, better, healthy future for future generations. “The world must stand together to tackle the breakdown of the climate change, and together we must ensure a better future for our coming generations,” the post by PM Skerrit read.

The people of Pakistan have been dealing with a lot of pain due to this climate calamity. This year’s monsoon rains have left the Asian country in tears, leaving millions homeless and destroying buildings, bridges and roads; everything and everyone is underwater.

The natural disasters, including flash floods and landslides along the Kabul and Indus rivers, have injured more than 1,600 people, and more than 1,000 have lost their lives. The worst-affected area is the southern districts of Balochistan and Sindh. Mountainous regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also been badly hit.

Many countries worldwide have stood up and offered assistance to Pakistan. The rescue operation is underway. The disaster management team and the forces, including the army and navy, of the country, are trying their best to safeguard the general public.
