Dominica: Gov inaugurates netball, basketball and volleyball courts at Windsor Park Stadium
The development is expected further in sports of Dominica.

The government of Dominica on Sunday officially inaugurated three new sports courts at Windsor Park, Stadium in Roseau. The stadiums include volleyball, basketball, netball courts.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, MP from Roseau Central Melissa- Poponne Skerrit, Minister of Sports Roselyn Paul and other executives.
Melissa-Poponne Skeritt, Parliamentary representative Roseau Central constituency, stated that the inauguration is one step ahead towards the development of National sporting life. She stated the project has been taken to its completion by the cooperation of the Government of Dominica and other stakeholders as this proves to the most significant investment in the sports infrastructure of Dominica.
Melissa-Poponne Skeritt said that while facing all the challenges during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the government still invested heavily in all sectors, including sports. She said the government always showed its commitments toward the people, especially the youth of the country.
Melissa Skerrit stated that the construction of these courts in the stadium would prove beneficial to volleyball, basketball, netball players and aspirants.
She added that these efforts would ignite a sports revolution not in the city but also in the whole country. The local schools will be collaborated with these courts to give lessons to the young talent in tennis.
Member of Parliament from Roseau Central also stated that the Boxing and squash courts might get added to these sporting facilities in future.
Melissa Skeritt also mentioned that next weekend 3 by 3 basketball finals would also be organized in the newly inaugurated courts, which will be a three-day exciting event. She said with the inauguration of new sports courts; new talent will be showcased out of every city and from the whole country of Dominica.
“We are seeing a new city springing up before us, homes are being built, regeneration of both commercial and tourist aspects of Roseau. We will soon unveil the plan to revamp all market squares. We are finalizing new plans for the redevelopment of the botanical gardens, and soon you will see the abandoned lots transformed completely into beautiful urban gardens and parks for kids.” stated the MP from Roseau Central constituency.
Besides this, she noted that the Ministry of sports would assist the netball association in extending coaching and exposure to this sport at the community and national level.
