Cuba-Denmark helds virtual meet, discusses ways to strengthening bilateral ties

Cuba: The Directors of Foreign Ministries of Cuba and Denmark on Wednesday organised a virtual meet in which both the nations discussed their areas of interest in promoting bilateral relations and developing cooperation projects between both nations.
As per the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) website, the virtual meeting was attended by the Director of MINREX’s Division for Europe and Canada – Gisela García and the Director of Denmark’s Division for Asia, Latin America and Oceania – Thomas Lehmann.
According to the sources, both the officials in the meet outlined the importance of strengthening bilateral ties in political and economic sectors. They also highlighted the mutual interest to implement joint cooperation projects in the upcoming years.
Ms Gisela García thanked Denmark’s for supporting and taking the side of Cuba in the resolution against the blockade which has been imposed by the United States on the island country. Both sides also emphasised the cooperation established in the multilateral sphere and multiple aspects on international issues.
In addition, the Cuba-Namibia Joint Working Group on Wednesday acknowledged at its 5th session, which focused on the significance of resuming cooperation in the areas of – education, sports, information technology and mining, sectors with positive results in earlier stages of bilateral ties.
Cuba-Namibia outlined the mutual efforts and achievements made in the fields of health, construction, physical planning and fishing, which will assist in promoting and achieving new agreements to strengthen economic and commercial relations between both nations.
The nation this week has started giving COVID-19 vaccine doses to toddlers and, with this, became the first country to do so.
Despite this, the Namibian official in the meet also praised the Cuban people’s fight in the face of the tightening of the United States blockade and all its consequences on the economic and social life of the nation amid the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the achievement by national vaccines to fight the disease caused by the SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus.
