CSG Patricia Scotland expresses grief towards victims of Lhubiriha School in Uganda

Commonwealth: Patricia Scotland, the Commonwealth Secretary-General (CSG), expressed grief, sorrow and dismay towards the victims of the Lhubiriha School in Uganda. She condemned the attack on the students and demanded justice.

CSG Scotland took her official social media handles to offer condolence. She also mentioned that justice must be prevailed and the culprit should be held.

“I am saddened by the news from Uganda, and I condemn the awful attack on the Lhubiriha school. Those responsible must be brought to justice,” her tweet read.

She added that the Commonwealth family stands with the people and government of Uganda. “The thoughts of the Commonwealth are with the victim’s families and the people of Uganda,” CSG Scotland mentioned.

“And we must rebuild peace in the area,” she concluded.

This heart-wrenching attack has been condemned by the general public. The social media users expressed sadness through the comment section, and some demanded justice.

One of the users named, Mulumba N. Songsoren, stated, “It’s so pathetic. We must wage and win the war against arms proliferation and illegal ownership. May the souls of the young affected Rest in Peace.” Whereas another user, Patrick Mulenga Shikabenga, commented, “It’s sad development indeed those involved must pay for the evil actions, and we pray for God’s protection upon UGANDA.”

While the third one stated, “It’s truly cruel and barbaric attack. I believe the Government of Uganda will do everything possible to arrest and bring to justice all the criminals who committed this act. My deepest condolences go to the victims’ families & the nation of Uganda at this difficult time.”

As per the primary reports by the police of Uganda, the Islamic State group, which is linked with militants, hacked and burned around 37 students to death. This attack has been regarded as one of the worst attacks in the country in over a decade.
