Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation of Bahamas – Chester Cooper attended the Second Annual ASTA Caribbean Showcase.

Nassau, the Bahamas: Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation of Bahamas – Chester Cooper attended the Second Annual ASTA Caribbean Showcase. He was invited as a guest speaker, who addressed other Caribbean Ministers of Tourism and ASTA Members.

Deputy PM Cooper shared a glimpse of the meeting through social media and mentioned that during the meeting, he celebrated the valued travel partners of his nation and the Caribbean community.

“Last week, I was invited to give my remarks at the 2nd Annual ASTA Caribbean Showcase where I spoke to my Fellow Caribbean Ministers of Tourism, ASTA Members and the group of Travel Advisors, suppliers and special guests,” Deputy Prime Minister highlighted.

ASTA plays a pivotal role as the leading global advocate for travel advisors, representing their interests and ensuring their professional growth.

He further outlined, “In today’s complex and ever-evolving travel landscape, the role of travel advisors is more important than ever before. They bring value to the travelling public by offering personalised recommendations, crafting unique itineraries, and providing crucial assistance in times of unforeseen challenges.”

Deputy PM Cooper also expressed gratitude towards the authorities associated with ASTA Caribbean Showcase 2023. “Their dedication fuels Caribbean tourism growth. Thank you to those who were part of ASTA Caribbean Showcase 2023. Let’s continue to thrive together!” he conveyed.

American Society for Travel Advisors (ASTA):

At the second Annual Caribbean Showcase, ASTA hosted over 250 advisors. The event has been organised at Turks and Caicos’ Beaches, which are part of Scandals Resorts International.

This trade event gathered tourism ministers from various Caribbean countries, such as Turks & Caicos, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, Curacao, and Saint Lucia. Along with them, the Jamaican Minister of Tourism gave his remarks via a pre-recorded video.

During this meeting, every leader addressed the conference room full of people. The ministers briefed the audience about their home destination and expressed their views on the importance of both – travel advisors and Sandals towards their tourism-driven economies.

It is to be noted that the Minister of Economics and Tourism for Curacao – Ruisandro Cijntje, announced that next year, the ASTA Caribbean Convention will be hosted in Sandals Royal Curacao from August 24 to 27, 2024. He invited the travel advisors to register, as the registration process is now open.
