St George’s, Grenada: Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and the Local Government of Grenada has shared an update about the Environmental Report for the Lauriston Restoration and Rehabilitation Project.

This follows the presentation of the Environmental, Social and Impact Assessment (ESIA) of the Lauriston Restoration and Rehabilitation Project done by Roberts Caribbean, a Grenadian company, which tabled a draft report to stakeholders in Carriacou, it informed additionally.
Furthermore, the ministry stated the company recommended the need for further detailed analyses to be carried out based on the design concepts which were developed in 2012 by Smith Warner International Limited for the restoration and rehabilitation of the Lauriston shoreline, coupled with existing information.
The Ministry for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and the Local Government of Grenada has also informed that according to the ESIA, it is imperative that the necessary follow-up investigations are carried out, including a comprehensive climate vulnerability and risk assessment, to provide the evidence-based information required for a full evaluation of the feasibility of the proposed measures.
As part of the regional pilot initiative for Enhancing Direct Access (EDA), the Government of Grenada received financial aid from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to conduct feasibility studies to support the implementation of the Lauriston Restoration and Rehabilitation Project.
