Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) issued a High Surf Advisory due to a frontal system affecting the northeastern Caribbean. They advised sea bathers and fishermen to exercise caution while dipping into the water, especially on the beaches along the western coastlines of the island.
The effects of the frontal trough moved into the areas of Barbados on Friday. This has caused a rise in surf activity along the western coastlines of the island.
The marines are forecasted to remain moderate in open water with northerly swells ranging from 1.5 to 2.0 meters (5 to 7 ft).
BMS forecasters warned sea bathers and other marine users to exercise caution and suggested taking necessary precautions while in the water. Beachgoers are encouraged to use beaches with lifeguard stations.
The warning has been issued in the marine from this weekend and pursued to early next week till Monday. Over the past few days, Barbados has been experiencing an effect on the frontal system. This feature has now been pushed forward to the south in the area on Thursday.
Since Thursday, there has been an increase noted in the surf activity along the western coastlines of the island. Some of the key takeaways which must be followed are as follows,
– Secure objects that can be swept away by the breaking wave activity
– I venturing into the water, ensure there is an on-duty lifeguard
– Exercise extreme caution at the beaches, particularly along the western coasts
Moreover, as a cold front moves over the island, the temperature ranges between 24 degrees Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius over the north of the island. As per automatic weather stations, the temperature is noted to be 28 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius south of the island.
Additionally, as per the weather reports of BMS, people may experience a mix of sunshine and clouds with a few brief isolated light showers in Barbados. A weak shear line of synopsis is affecting the island.
