5th murder in Tobago at Windward Road, raises concern for people’s security
Tobago recorded its 5th murder since the beginning of this year, 2024, at Windward Road in Pembroke on Saturday. The victim was identified as Jafari Fraser, aged 25 years old.

Tobago recorded its 5th murder since the beginning of this year, 2024, at Windward Road in Pembroke on Saturday. The body of the deceased was recovered from the nearby bar with multiple wounds from gunshots.
According to the reports, the victim was identified as Jafari Fraser, aged 25 years old. He was a resident of the Glamorgan region. He was driving his car when he was shot dead on the spot.
The victim tried to save himself and turned his car to the other side; however, due to injuries, he lost control of the car and crashed into a nearby bar.
After hearing the sounds of shots fired, locals arrived at the scene, and they immediately informed the police about the incident. The investigating officer responded to the matter. Upon arrival at the location, the official found the body of Fraser lying motionless on the ground.
The law enforcement officers were accompanied by a team of DMOs, and the doctors declared the victim dead on the scene. The body of the 25-year-old deceased was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy.
The police are investigating the murder and urged the public to come forward with any information and assist them in their investigation. However, this is not the first time that people have experienced such stances of crimes as last month, the crime officers reported a murder case of a retiree.
On February 15, officers recovered Vernon “Tucker” Thomas’ bullet-riddled body on Dutch Fort Road. Thomas was recognized as aged 66 years and was a resident of Mt Grace. As per reports, he was approached by a man wearing a reflector vest and a yellow hard hat.
The accused fired at him several times, which left his body with multiple wounds from gunshots. He succumbed to those injuries. The investigation of the case is ongoing.
Additionally, for the same period last year, Tobago reported one murder, and this year, the island has reported five murders to date. The increasing number of murders indicates that the people are definitely living in a state of fear.
Each day, several lives are lost in such heinous acts of crime. People are now asking authorities to take quicker action as soon as possible. The government is advised to take serious actions and implement strict actions towards the culprits.
