Guyana: President of the country, Dr Irfaan Ali, welcomed the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, last evening. The President of Guyana met Mia Mottley and her delegation to State House for a working dinner.
He further praised the commitments of the regional integration and said that “Guyana strongly trusts in improving commitment to regional integration.” He also underlined Guyana’s commitment to collaborate with the Barbados government in the context of regional integration.
“I want you to know that here in Guyana, led by myself as President, the cabinet and the people of this country, we admire your leadership greatly, your leadership. We firmly believe in your commitment to regional integration, and we will work with you every single day in our journey ahead together to ensure that the goals that you are setting can be realized and the people of this region can be uplifted to better heights,” said Guyana President.
The Barbadian Prime Minister Mottley further reflected the strong bond with Guyana and the Guyanese President. While emphasizing the friendship, she noted, “For me, it is important that the last trip I had made during the COVID started before the final lockdown was to Guyana. And the first trip that I am making since receiving the mandate to the people of Barbados is to Guyana. I think that showcases very bilateral ties between the two nations and even beyond what exists with us as CARICOM nations.”
Furthermore, she thanked President Dr Irfaan Ali for allowing Barbados‘ public and commercial sector representatives in her delegation to collaborate with their Guyanese counterparts.
Barbadian Prime Minister Mottley and her 14-member delegation reached Guyana late yesterday afternoon to attend the “International Energy Conference and Expo Guyana.”
