Tips for a safe and enjoyable Carnival are as follows:

SAFETY FIRST
While having fun is important, prioritise your safety and the safety of others. Follow the guidelines provided by the authorities, look out for your friends and ensure that everyone in your group stays together.

DRINK RESPONSIBLY
Pace yourself, stay hydrated and know your limits. Avoid binge drinking and have a designated driver or alternative transport if drinking.

HAVE AN EASY EXIT STRATEGY
Be aware of event exits for quick departure if needed. This can be especially helpful in emergencies or if you start feeling overwhelmed in the crowd.

PRE-PLAN TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS
Before going out to Carnival events, arrange your transportation in advance. Consider hiring a trusted driver or carpooling with friends.

CHOOSE SAFE PARKING
Park in well-lit areas that are easily accessible and have proper security. Avoid leaving valuables visible inside your car.

DESIGNATED MEETING POINT
Establish a designated meeting point with your group members in case anyone gets separated. This could be a specific landmark or a designated spot within the event.

KEEP PERSONAL BELONGINGS SECURE
Keep your personal belongings close to you at all times, preferably in a secure bag or pocket with zippers. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash and only bring essential items.

STICK TO A CARNIVAL BUDGET
Plan your Carnival expenses in advance to avoid overspending. Set a budget for costumes, food, drinks, and other activities, and try your best to stick to it.

FOSTER UNITY AND POSITIVITY
Carnival is a time to come together as a community and celebrate our shared culture and heritage. Embrace the spirit of unity, respect, and inclusivity.
