UN team to visit British Virgin Islands

Road Town, British Virgin Islands: United Nations Resident Coordinator Didier Trebucq, along with several UN Heads of Agencies, will be visiting the British Virgin Islands this week.
As per the update, during their visit, they will be meeting with Premier and Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Sustainable Development Dr Natalio D Wheatley to discuss the implementation of the Country Implementation Plan (CIP).
The United Nations has further outlined that this plan focuses on technical assistance provided by the UN in partnership with the Government of the Virgin Islands to achieve sustainable development goals and address high-priority areas.
The update informed that the visit will boost the relationship. It further expressed that as a key development partner, the UN continues to support the Government of the Virgin Islands in its pursuit of a more sustainable and resilient future as a Small Island Developing State (SIDS). We continue to collaborate on important initiatives and programs that contribute to national political, economic, and social development.
The United Nations has further explained the Country Implementation Plan and outlined the importance of the plan for the host country.
“The Country Implementation Plan is a specialized framework designed specifically for the Virgin Islands, tailored to address national concerns and regional priorities. It will serve as a strategic tool to confront developmental challenges and foster progress in the Territory,” the social media post by UN Barbados.
As per the official update, this mission is comprised of representatives from the International Labour Organization (ILO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
