Trinidad and Tobago: CIRC offers condolences towards family of George Augustus Umbala Joseph
The Carnival Institute and Regional Carnival, which is popularly known as CIRC, offered condolences to the family and friends of George Augustus “Umbala” Joseph.

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: The Carnival Institute and Regional Carnival, which is popularly known as CIRC, offered condolences to the family and friends of George Augustus “Umbala” Joseph.
As per the update by the Carnival Institute, “Umbala”, as he was fondly called, was of Grenadian descent but lived in the beautiful twin island nation of Trinidad and Tobago from the tender age of eleven. He became one of the nation’s most prolific and renowned broadcasters of his time.
CIRC further informed the general public that he formed and became the President of an organization, the Civil Liberation Union of Trinidad and Tobago (CLUTT), where he catered to the needs of the poor and homeless street dwellers in the Port-of-Spain district annually on August 31st, Independence Day.
Additionally, Carnival Institute and Regional Carnival counted the achievements and accomplishments of Umbala. It noted that in 1980 Joseph was awarded the Hummingbird Medal (Gold) in the sphere of Small Business. In addition to being a businessman hosting his own morning show on WESN Content Capital, namely, “The George Umbala Morning Show”, he was also the author of two books, titled, Diary of a Candidate (1993) and King Creole is Dead (2000).
It also outlined, “Today, CIRC salutes this talented and versatile media giant, carnival masquerader, and true son of the Caribbean soil.”
In conclusion, it also shared the photos from 1975 of George Augustus “Umbala” Joseph as King (Splendour of the Clown) in renowned mas icon Raoul Garib’s first band, Circus Follies.
