Supermarkets, Gas Stations to remain open from 10 am to 1 pm in Dominica today
The essential workers have also been permitted to perform their duties for the same timings

Dominica: Dominican Roosevelt Skerrit, issued the new guidelines to mitigate the COVID-19 spread in the country. As Dominica is to be under complete lockdown on the weekend, PM announced that gas stations, supermarkets and grocery stores will remains open from 10 am to 1 pm.
While speaking on DBS radio PM Skerrit said that the Government had authorised some gas stations at High Street, Portsmouth, Canefield, and Marigot to be open from 10 am to 1 pm. The essential workers have also been permitted to perform their duties for the same timings. Now taxi drivers are also added to the list of essential workers as they have to travel from airports and seaports to other destinations to provide pick and drop facilities.
PM Skerrit said that the Government allowed the supermarkets and grocery stores to remain open from 10 am – 1 pm. Along with this, PM Skerrit highlighted that people are allowed only to do shopping in their nearby grocery stores or supermarkets. They could not move from one city to another. “The citizens are expected to follow the COVID-19 physical measures while shopping,” said PM Skerrit.
The police department has been authorised to ticket those who will not follow the COVID-19 measures. “In this situation, the residents should understand that these guidelines and curfew had been imposed for the safety of the citizens. Any individual who notices coronavirus symptoms must contact the COVID-19 hotline service and get themselves tested,” he added.
COVID-19 Testing would continue over the weekend at the following locations – The Windsor Park Sports Stadium on Saturday, August 7, 2021, and Sunday, August 8, 2021, from 9:30, am to 2 pm for people in the Roseau Health District.
He also added that the Government would provide mobile testing at the doorsteps for home testing and in some cases the mobile unit would provide a safe travel to the testing destination of the district.
