St Lucia’s PM Pierre congratulates Delan Edwin for shattering 200M record
Prime Minister Philip J Pierre has congratulated athlete Delan Edwin for shattering the 200 metres national record for the second time.

St Lucia: Prime Minister Philip J Pierre has congratulated athlete Delan Edwin for shattering the 200 metres national record for the second time.
“Let us celebrate our very own, Delan Edwin. On two consecutive occasions, he shattered the 200M national record,” Prime Minister Pierre tweeted.
He further stated that Edwin had been become 25th fastest time by a Caribbean man in history, and for now, he is in the top 30 worldwide for this year.
He expressed that “As a result of this performance, he now has the twenty-fifth fastest time by a Caribbean man in history, ranking him in the top thirty worldwide for the year thus far. Like the many other athletes who continue to proudly represent our country on the world stage”.
He further mentioned, “Delan has a promising future ahead of him.”
He further asked St Lucians to join him and congratulate the athlete. “I ask that you and every Saint Lucian join me and congratulate him!” he concluded.
Edwin, born in 1996, is the 26-year-old St Lucian athlete, having the highest ranking of 303 in Men’s 100M, 355 in Men’s 200M and 2802 in Men’s Overall Ranking. The current ranking of the athlete is – 305 in Men’s 100M, 355 in Men’s 200M, and 2837 in Men’s Overall Ranking.
Many congratulated the athlete after reading the congratulatory post by the Prime Minister. One wrote, “Congratulations, young man, continue to make you family and country proud…As you can see, you have impressed the Prime Minister and thousand St.Lucians… Keep your head up and continue to fly your flag high,” yet another mentioned, “Congrats, young man. we are proud of you and all your accomplishments.”
