St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis – Dr Terrance Drew, on October 13, 2022 (Thursday), met the management team of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. The aim behind the meeting was to ensure a strong and continuous relationship between the team and the government of St Kitts and Nevis.
Prime Minister Drew stated that it was a fruitful discussion, and he looks forward to a continued partnership. This meeting has shown that PM Terrance Drew has been equally focusing on the advancement of the education sector of St Kitts and Nevis.
Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, also known as RUSVM, was founded in 1982 and has emerged as one of the best universities in the region. It offers a degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and in the year 2014, the university started Master of Science and PhD degrees in public health, global animal health, conservation medicine and other research areas supported by the school. RUSVM has been accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education and has been owned by Adtalem Global Education.
As of 2019, RUSVM graduated more than 5,500 veterinarians and enrolled students three times per year – September, January and May. Apart from this, the school has established four Research Centres, namely:
- The Centre for Research and Innovation in Veterinary and Medical Education
- The One Health Centre for Zoonosis and Tropical Veterinary Medicine
- The Centre for Integrative Mammalian Research
- The Centre for Conservation Medicine and Ecosystem Health
The faculty of the university engaged in research projects totalling $21 million from grant-awarding bodies, corporations, and governmental agencies.
