Roseau, Dominica: The Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit welcomed Chu Maoming, the new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, to the Commonwealth of Dominica. Chu Maoming, paid a courtesy call at the Office of the Prime Minister on Friday. The meeting included discussions on strengthening the 20-year-old ties between both the countries.

Earlier today, Chu Maoming, the Ambassador presented his credentials to the President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Sylvanie Burton. He later met Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit to have a detailed discussion on their upcoming vision on the ways to collaborate for the growth of both the nations.

PM Skerrit shared the details of the meeting conducted through his social media handle. After the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his delight in having exchanged the dialogue with the newly appointed ambassador.

Further, PM Skerrit assured the Ambassador of the complete backing from the Government. PM Skerrit wished him luck as he begins his duty in Dominica and he also expressed his gratitude for China’s immense support throughout the last 20 years in every sector’s development. Both the dignitaries promised to foster the close ties, which came after immense hard work and the building of mutual trust, cooperation and true friendship among both the nations.

Recently, the Prime Minister went to China along with his delegation to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Commonwealth of Dominica and the People’s Republic of China.

Chu Maoming, the new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Commonwealth of Dominica assumed the office on April 15. Ezra Thomas, Chief Protocol Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also the representative of the diplomats from the Chinese Embassy welcomed her to Dominica.

Maoming has been designated after the outgoing ambassador Lin Xianjiang who announced about him leaving the job. In his leaving remarks Ambassador Lin shared that, for the past 20 years, “we have witnessed the steady and deepening development of our bilateral relations, especially in recent years.”

Prime Minister Skerrit gratefully stated that China has been that friend who has always supported Dominica during all the developmental tasks.
