PM Browne congratulates young pitcher Ovis Protes for major success
PM Browne, on March 21, 2022, met the young Antiguan and Barbudan pitcher Ovis Portes to congratulate him for his major success in the field of sports.

                                                    Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister Gaston Browne, on March 21, 2022 (Monday), met the young Antiguan and Barbudan pitcher Ovis Portes to congratulate him for his major success in the field of sports.
Boston Red Sox recently signed Portes to play in minor league baseball in the United States.
“On Monday, Prime Minister Gaston Browne met the young Antiguan and Barbudan pitcher, Ovis Portes, in his office and congratulated him on his major sporting success.
Ovis was recently signed by the Red Sox to play in the minor baseball league in the United States,” the official page of the government of Antigua and Barbuda informed.
While further cheered the young player and motivated to work hard, stay focused and remain vigilant throughout this next stage of his sporting career.
PM Browne also assured the government’s support and commitment towards the baseball athlete.
While providing a brief about the achievements of the young player, the government of Antigua and Barbuda stated that Portes represented the country at the Caribbean Pre World Series Little League Baseball Tournament 2017. This tournament was hosted at Stanford’s cricket pitch in Coolidge.
According to the government, Ovis attended this meet and greet with PM Browne with his mother Rodiel Portes and the President of the Antigua and Barbuda softball and baseball team, Manuel Melenciano.
Through Portes, the PM tried to encourage other young athletes of Antigua and Barbuda to work hard and represent the country at the international level.
