LMA, Peru: Twenty-five people have died and more than 12 people sustained severe injuries following a tragic bus accident in northern Peru. The incident is reported to have taken place on a potholed dirt road in the Andean region of Cajamarca on Monday.
As per the details shared by Local official Olga Bobadilla, “the bus fell into an abyss” approximately 200 metres (some 650 feet) deep.”
This terrifying accident resulted in 50 passengers ending up on the river’s edge while some were carried away by the water. Following the incident, the rescue team and the firefighters came to extend their helping hand to the injured people and transported them to the hospital.
The doctors have not shared reports of any injured person but they have stated that they are trying their best to get all of them in a stable condition.
According to the details, several people gathered at the police station and were crying and praying for the well-being of their loved ones.
This frequent accident on Peruvian roads has become a cause of concern for the residents of the community. They have also requested the administration to take serious action as the poor enforcement of traffic rules, and poor road conditions are becoming a threat to the safety and security of the citizens of the community.
Moreover, the authorities are also investigating the matter in detail whether the bus was roadworthy or not. They have also promised to probe the matter in detail in order to avoid such accidents in future.
Several residents of the community took to their social media accounts and expressed their views and opinions on the accident. One person commented, “Lord have mercy on the survivors, and give them a speedy recovery, most importantly help them come to know you Jesus as their Lord and Savior in this your name I do pray amen.”
Another person commented the following “This is so dangerous, I hope those injured people are safe and have not sustained any serious injury.”
