Castries, Saint Lucia: The Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information will be hosting ‘Caroling by Sea’ on Saturday, December 23, 2023.
Notably, the inaugural event was held in 2022 and was well received by cruise ship passengers of ships in port. In view of this success, the Ministry of Tourism has decided to make this event an annual event for the cruise sector.
It will form part of the efforts aimed at enhancing the cruise passenger experience. The event will also showcase the importance of the creative sector to cruise tourism.
It is to be noted that through these ways, the cruise passengers may get to experience Saint Lucia’s culture.
Schedule of the event
Caroling by the Sea is scheduled to take place from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Point Seraphine Duty-Free Shopping Complex and La Place Carenage Shopping Complex for the joy of passengers from the Marella Voyager for Britannia and Silver Dawn cruise vessels.
Additionally, special performances for Caroling by the Sea will be performed by the following,
- Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School choir
- The Augier Primary School Choir
- The Cam Dancers and the Youth Aflame Dancers
Moreover, the Ministry of Tourism hopes that the event will provide another opportunity to assimilate Saint Lucian talent and culture into the cruise product which is being offered by encouraging young individuals to be a part of the experience provided to the passengers.
In addition, the first cruise ship of the season commenced with the arrival of Venezia. Notably, Venezia made its inaugural call to Saint Lucia from its home port in Brooklyn, New York.
It also signalled the start of the 2023/2024 cruise tourism season.
This cruise season anticipates over 400 cruise calls, including 19 inaugural calls and more than 600,000 visitors.
Saint Lucia Tourism Authority lauded many Saint Lucians who employed the vessel. The economic impact of the cruise to the destination is vast as it impacts not only government and private sector businesses but also creates employment across the industry.
