Mikyle Louis received his debut cap for the West Indies International Cricket team in Richard Botham test series against England. Following his test debut, he became the first ever Kittitian to represent his nation on an international platform.
The four-day test match is effective from today and will be played at one of the most iconic grounds in the world, Lord’s. Notably, the toss has taken place and has won by England who opted to bowl first. The fans of Mikyle Louis have expressed their excitement on witnessing the magical game of the cricketer.
While unveiling the update about Louis selection in the team, the Windies Cricket noted “Mikyle Louis is set to make his West Indies Test debut, tomorrow, in the 1st Test against England, at Lord’s.”
Following his selection in playing 11, Mikyle Louis stated that he had worked really hard in order to play for his country. He stated that he is extremely happy to have been selected as he has trained really hard and wasn’t leaving any chance and putting a lot of efforts in the gym and practice in order to turn his aspirations into reality.
Mikyle also extended gratitude to his parents for their support throughout his journey and called his mother “an angel” who has always been there for him as a pillar of strength. He also shared his experience of meeting King Charles before the test series and stated that it was a great moment for him and his brother to catch up with the King of the United Kingdom.
Also, following the announcement of the player in the playing 11, the Minister of Sports of St Kitts and Nevis, Samal Duggins extended congratulations to Louis. He stated that the entire nation stands behind him and is extremely proud of the overall achievements made by Mikyle. He also called his story a tale of passion, perseverance and pride which has led him to this beautiful and exceptional moment.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis, Denzil Douglas also extended best wishes to the player and stated that their prayers and guidance are always with him.
The playing XI selected for the first test series against England includes, Kraigg Brathwaite, Alick Athanaze, Joshua Da Silva, Kavem Hodge, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Mikyle Louis, Kirk Mckenzie, Gudakesh Motie and Jayden Seales.
