Manifesto Highlights: Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party shares investments in last eight years
Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has recently shared their manifesto for general elections 2023 on January 10, 2023 (Tuesday).

Antigua and Barbuda: Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has recently shared their manifesto for general elections 2023 on January 10, 2023 (Tuesday). While sharing the same, it also informed the general public about the investments in the last eight years than in any previous period in its history.
ABLP informed that from 2014 to 2022, there was the highest investment in Antigua and Barbuda by the foreign and the local business community, showing a high level of confidence in the economy and the ABLP’s policies.
Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s manifesto stated that massive Public Sector Investment by the ABLP administration of ECS 852.7 million directly from the Treasury, plus more than EC$ 550 million from statutory bodies, resulted in public sector investment of more than a Billion last eight years in the development of Antigua and Barbuda: these investments include –
• The construction of more than 1,000 new homes in locations at Dredge Bay Danfield’s, Lightfoot, Paynters, St. Phillips and Friar’s Hill – over EC$300 million was spent by National Housing to provide houses and land to citizens.
• The building of a modern Cargo port at the cost of EC$250 million.
• The rebuilding of the main highway from Potters Main Road to Willikies, the Sir Sidney Walling Highway, Friars Hill Road, the George Parham Road, Valley Road and Anchorage Main Road, as well as several ancillary
• The development of the Five Islands Campus of the University of the West Indies.
• Investments of more than $200 million by the West Indies Oil Company, expanding its operations and improving its capacity to serve the needs of the population.
• The expansion of the Cruise Ship port to 5 berths, including one to accommodate the largest Cruise Ships in the world.
• The construction opening of Nyabinghi Theocracy Church School for the Rastafarian Community.
• The expansion of the Antigua and Barbuda Technical Centre is currently under construction.
• The construction of the Sir Novelle Richards Academy and Science Laboratory. Repair and refurbishment of several schools and government buildings, including Police stations.
• The construction of an Infectious Diseases Clinic and conversion of the National Training Centre into the Sir Cuthwyn Lake Medical Centre at the cost of ECS11 million.
• Construction of mini dams in support of the Agricultural Sector.
• A New Tower and radar equipment at the V.C. Bird International Airport.
• The building out of a fibre optic network directly to horns and businesses throughout Antigua.
• The building of two new major Polyclinics
• The expansion of the facilities at the Sir Lester Bird Mount St John’s Medical Centre
• A new Athletics Track at YASCO Sports Complex
• A new and expanded airport in Barbuda at the cost of ECS65 million.
• Building energy resilience in Barbuda through the establishment of a solar voltaic energy plant and battery storage at the cost of EC527 million.
• The reconstruction of homes, schools and hospitals in Barbuda at the cost of EC$29 million.
• The rebuilding of the sea landing in Barbuda.
