Jamaican PM Holness congratulates Jamaican athletes for ruling CARIFTA Games 2022
Prime Minister Andrew Holness, has extended congratulations to all the Jamaican athletes for their performance in the CARIFTA Games 2022.

Jamaica: Prime Minister, Member of Parliament for West Central St Andrew, and leader of Jamaica Labour Party, Andrew Holness, has extended congratulations to all the Jamaican athletes for their performance in the CARIFTA Games 2022.
PM Holness further stated that he is proud of all the participants for dominating the tracks and breaking all the previous records.
“Heartiest congratulations to all athletes who participated in this year’s staging of the CARIFTA Games. It was a joy to see our athletes dominating the track and breaking records!” Prime Minister Holness stated.
Furthermore, he highlighted the Under-20 girls as well as boys who broke the world record in the 4×100 relays. He added that Jamaica’s future in track and field is bright.
The Prime Minister expressed, “Special recognition to the Under-20 girls and boys who set a new world record in the 4×100 relays. The future of field and track is bright!”
In 2022 as well, Jamaican Team dominated the games and maintained their position at 1st rank. Jamaica has topped the medal tally of the CARIFTA Games for more than 43 times; it was the team’s 36th victory in a row. Jamaicans faced defeat last in 1984 against The Bahamas.
Jamaica bagged a total of 97 medals; of these, 47 were Gold, 32 Silver, and 18 Bronze. Out of the total 97 medals, Jamaican athletes won 43 medals on the third and final day of the CARIFTA Games 2022. This was the best-ever haul of the Jamaica team; the last record was 86 medals, achieved in CARIFTA 2016 in Grenada and CARIFTA 2017 in Curacao.
The CARIFTA Games’ 49th edition has ended on Monday night at the National Stadium in Kingston.
