Jamaica: PM Andrew Holness outlines working under National Housing Trust

Jamaica: Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness has recently shared updates regarding the National Housing Trust. He outlined that the government has been working hard to provide housing units to the general public of the nation.
He said that the government of Jamaica continues to create more innovative ideas, projects and programmes to build more housing solutions under the National Housing Trust as the demand for the housing has been on rise in the county.
On the morning of November 9, 2022, the government added another story to the NHT’s chapter as they broke ground for the construction of 248 studio apartments at Howard Avenue, St Andrew, informed Prime Minister Holness through his social media. The property can be accessed from the main thoroughfares of Waltham Park Road (east) & Spanish Town Road (west) and runs parallel to Hagley Park Road. Howard Avenue is approximately 5.5 km and 8 km, respectively, from the commercial centres of Half-Way-Tree and Downtown, Kingston.
PM Andrew Holness furthermore highlighted that this development is a joint venture with Centauri Real Estate Company Limited (CREC) under the NHT’s Guaranteed Purchase Programme (GPP). The complex will include a children’s play area, Drying yard, Laundry area, Roof Garden, jogging trail and other amenities.
While expressing his happiness he mentioned that he is glad that “we continue to make homeownership a reality.”
Additionally, PM Holness asserted that he is proud of the government of Jamaica for following the path for many years and for providing a safe and secure roof to the every Jamaica. PM Holness informed that on November 10, 2022, six beneficiaries will receive keys to their brand new homes made possible through the New Social Housing Programme. This programme is designed to improve the quality of lives for the most vulnerable Jamaicans and give hope to our poor and vulnerable citizens.
