Jahnni Thompson 23-year-old shot dead, marks first USVI murder of 2024
Jahnni Thompson, a 23-year-old man, was shot in the area of Post Officer Square at St Thomas on Sunday. It is to be noted that the incident is marked as the first murder on the US Virgin Islands for the year 2024.

Jahnni Thompson, a 23-year-old man, was shot in the area of Post Officer Square at St Thomas on Sunday. It is to be noted that the incident is marked as the first murder on the US Virgin Islands for the year 2024.
According to the information, the residents of the community called 911 to the Emergency Call Centre and informed the authorities about the two individuals who were shot. Subsequently, the victims were taken to the Roy Lester Schnieder Regional Medical Centre through private vehicles.
Both victims were taken to the emergency room of the Schnieder Regional Medical Centre, where they were provided with the best medical facilities.
One of the victims has been identified as Jahnni Thompson (now deceased). He sustained at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. The doctors provided him with the best medical attention, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, the other victim of the gunshot, whose identity has not been revealed by the authorities also sustained at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. He is currently in a stable condition and receiving medical attention from the doctors at the hospital.
The authorities are thoroughly investigating the matter, and the suspect is still on the run. However, the authorities have stated that they are trying their best to get the murderer of the victim, Jahnni Thompson, arrested for his offence.
Moreover, the Virgin Islands Police Department has requested the citizens to contact them if they have any information regarding the incident. The residents of the community took to their social media accounts to extend their views and express their condolences to the family members of the deceased. One person with a Facebook account, Valerie Mohr, commented, “Prayers and blessings for all involved. Dear Lord Jesus, keep the folks on the islands safe in your Holy Name, Lord. Amen.”
Another person with a Facebook handle, Yh Dejah, commented the following: “Rip to the young man, my condolences.”
Also, the citizens are asking the officials to take stringent measures in order to ensure the safety and security of the citizens residing in the nation.
