Guyana: Labour Ministry concludes outreach exercise at different regions
Guyana: The Ministry of Labour and the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) has recently shared a glimpse of the outreach exercise that concluded on March 31, 2023.

Georgetown, Guyana: The Ministry of Labour and the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) has recently shared a glimpse of the outreach exercise that concluded on March 31, 2023. While informing the same, it noted, “The Ministry of Labour, on Friday, March 31, 2023, concluded an outreach exercise to Orealla village, Region 6 (East Berbice-Corentyne).”
Furthermore, it noted that the team led by Labour Officer Emanuel Ramdhial was accompanied by Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Officer Nazmoon Prittipaul, Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency (CRMA) Officer Zakir Inshanali and Regional Coops Officer Keshri Jailall.
The ministry also stated that students from the Orealla Primary School were sensitized about the issue of Child Labour and its effects both emotionally and physically. Public outreach was also held at the Orealla village aimed at raising awareness and also to sensitize residents of the community on the issue of Child Labour and how they can help in the fight against the detrimental effects of Child Labour.
During the outreach, employers and employees from the Logging, Fishing, Mining and Agricultural sectors were engaged through interactive sessions on Labour Laws, Occupational Safety and Health and Cooperative Societies by Officers of the Ministry. Job seekers were also able to access the services of the Central Recruitment & Manpower Agency (CRMA) within the ministry.
On the same day, a team from the Ministry of Labour conducted a sensitization outreach exercise in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) to educate them on the various services being offered by the ministry.
As per the update, the team visited communities and businesses such as Akawaini, St Monica, Kabakaburi, Abrams Creek, Aurora Gold Mining and others, where they raised awareness on workers’ rights, Child Labour and its detrimental effects, Labour laws and Occupational Safety and Health so as to ensure compliance.
The team was led by Labour Officers Ravi Persaud and Sonja Adonis, Board of Industrial Training (BIT) officer Mohammed Shaheed and Cooperative Societies officer Davindra Singh.
