St Kitts and Nevis: Women’s Wellness Clinics are open for the free screening of Cervical Cancer, Breast Cancer Examinations, Diabetes Tests and many others in St Kitts and Nevis. The Prime Minister, Terrance Drew, is encouraging the population of the nation to take advantage of it.
The medical facility has been introduced by Business and Professional Women (BPW) St Kitts in partnership with the Ministry of Health & SKN Medical and Dental Association. Till date, the services have been provided two times in this month on January 13 and 20, 2024.
On January 13, the services were provided at Newtown Health Centre and on January 20, these were provided at Basseterre Health Centre. Importantly, the next will be provided on January 27, 2024 (Saturday) at Sandy Point Medical Centre from 7 am to 11:30 am.
Such an action by the government of a nation proves the dedication they are fostering through their work for the betterment of the public. Also, there was a need for this as the health issues among women are taking a surge these days.
World Cervical Cancer Awareness Month is live across the globe and the services introduced in the country are connected to it.
Cervical Cancer is a serious problem which develops in women’s Cervix. And the cervix is the entrance to the uterus from the vagina. Pap Smears is a screening test for Cervical Cancer. The test is necessary for sexually active women as Cervical cancer is the most common type, which is caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).
It is the sexually transmitted infection which poses the need for sexually active women to have screening. The test can give a clear identification of the course of treatment required for the prevention of the progression of abnormal cells into cancer.
The highlight of the free screening shared by the Prime Minister reveals the concern of the authorities for the well-being of locals which even further contributes towards the overall development of the country.
