Ernest Hilaire attends launch of T20 World Cup 2024 logo, recalls memories

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Deputy Prime Minister, as well as the Minister of Tourism, Ernest Hilaire, attended the launch of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 logo on Wednesday. 

Minister Hilaire, who is also a member of parliament serving for Castries South, recalled the memories of 2007, 2010 and 2018, when he got an opportunity to represent Saint Lucia. 

Further, the DY Prime Minister took to his official social media handle (Facebook) to express his delight as the event was a great launch to the World Cup 2024. 

Noting this, Minister Hilaire was excited to host the tournament in Saint Lucia with other stakeholders. 

“Today I attended the launch of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup logo. The tournament is scheduled to take place in the West Indies and USA in June 2024. It was indeed a successful launch and I look forward to a successful hosting of the tournament here in Saint Lucia with the collaboration of all stakeholders” added Hilaire.

Continuing his statement, he further added “This brought back memories of 2007, 2010 and 2018 where we got a chance to show off the best of Saint Lucia. I am truly proud of what we can accomplish as a nation when we work together. Windies all the way!

While reacting to his Facebook post, a user named Madeleine Flavius lauds Minister Hilaire’s work. She commented, “I am very proud of you Doc, may God continue to administer his grace and strength to you as you labour for the betterment of our country.”

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024

The 2024 edition will take place from June 1 to 29. It will be the largest-ever T20 World Cup, with 55 matches to be played across nine cities. 

Noting this, three of the matches will be played in the USA, and the Caribbean will host the rest of the six matches. The ticket sales for the matches open with a public ballot. 

The ticket ballot for the event is not based on the first-come-first-served system, but all the people have been given an equal chance to buy the tickets. The ballot will be closed on February 7, 2024. 

Moreover, the semi-finals will be played in Trinidad and Tobago on June 26. The Cricket West Indies Chief Executive- Johnny Grave, and Chair of T20 World Cup USA, INC- Peter Hutton, expressed their enthusiasm about the entire process. 

“With the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 being 121 days away, the countdown to the most thrilling ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on the planet has begun”, added Grave.
