Northern Borne: The tribal community in Borne, a region between the borders of Indonesia and Malaysia forbids the newly married couple to use bathroom for three days after their wedding.
Marriage is definitely a most celebrated ritual for any community however it is not same for some tribal people in Borneo.
The world never ceases to make us go ‘HAWWW’ with the weird things. We come across this custom which seems absolutely unnatural however we are helpless as this actually exist.
Tidong Tribe and its weird custom
The marriages in Tidong tribe celebrated with their respective tribal rituals and traditions as same as others but with the exception of one thing that people usually don’t do.
The newlywed, neither the groom nor the bride is allowed to use bathroom for the three days right after their marriage which means no urinating, no bathing and no defecating.
Yes, you heard it right. This ritual gives the couple sleepless nights, trauma and physical illness.
The specific tribal community believe that stimulating yourself with the urine and the bowel system may become a reason for an unhappy marriage. This can also lead to infertility or death of their children once they are born.
They believe that pushing them to hold their bladder and prohibit them to poop for the three days will boost the love and strengthen the bond between the couple.
There is no originality in the fact that holding bladder and poop can make anybody’s relationship strong however it is quite evident that they will have to compromise with their health.
The family members are given a charge to keep the newlywed couple as a prisoner and they allow them to eat and drink the slightest amount so they can manage to stay without bathroom.
Scenario after those three days
Finally, after the three-day fatal ritual is over, the couple get a relief and is allowed to attend their natural calls followed by the most sicken bath.
Sometimes, due to this ritual many couples get diagnosed with certain illness. The problems related to kidney is quite apparent in the survey.
