James Tanny Rose passed away at the age of 77, at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) on Monday, 30th October, 2023.

James Tanny Rose is a committed community activist who continued to remain a member of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party for a long time.

The office of the Prime Minister mourns the death of James Tanny Rose, who was also known as the voice of the oppressed and downtrodden.

The Office of the PM expressed its condolences and sympathy to friends, family and everybody else who used to appreciate him for his political statements.

Tanny Rose was capable of winning the hearts and minds of his people through his presentations on various radio talk-shows and achieved great success through his unwavering determination and clear communication.

He was a threat to the opposition because of his blunt demeanour and outspoken nature, and this was the reason why people used to pour so much love upon him.

He believed in his ability to communicate and pursued his ambitions with unwavering commitment.

Tanny Rose was an exceptional radio talk show host of Antigua and Barbuda due to his sharp intellect and insightful analysis of topics that deeply connected with citizens and viewers.

Rose never got discouraged or curtailed his approach because of criticism.

He always believed that whatever he did, he did for a good cause. He shared a good friendship with the Prime Minister, Gaston Browne and witnessed the genuine love that the Prime Minster has for the natives of Antigua and Barbuda. Therefore, he helped him win the last election.

On the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of independence, Rose created history and helped in shaping Antigua and Barbuda as we know it now, as remarked by the Office of the Prime Minister.

Moreover, the sudden death of James Tammy Rose has saddened the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s Chairman and the leadership immensely.

To express his sorrow, he stated that his heart hurts to hear about the loss of his esteemed comrade. He added that Rose’s indispensable contribution in both political and cultural aspects has left a huge mark that can never be erased.

His absence will always affect those who had the privilege of knowing such an amazing, honest personality.

The ABLP says that it is extremely thankful for the legacy that James Tanny has left behind and the legacy he built by ensuring the nation’s progress. These are aspects of his illustrious life that will always be cherished and remembered.

In an official statement released by the Executive Committee and staff of the Antigua Trades and Labour Union, the organization extended its condolences to James Tanny Rose’s family.

The Union also stated that James Tanny Rose led the organization with distinction as its General Secretary between 1976 and 1979.
