Antigua & Barbuda to witness spike in hotel projects: PM Browne
The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, has announced that the nation will witness an escalation in the number of hotel projects which will offer diverse options for travellers seeking luxury, eco-friendly properties and tranquillity.

St John: The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne has announced that the nation will witness an escalation in the number of hotel projects in the near future. He said this will offer diverse options for travellers seeking luxury, eco-friendly properties.
While speaking at the ongoing budget sessions, he added that currently, works are ongoing on a Peace, Love and Happiness Project in Dominica that aims to transform the country’s overall landscape.
“Work is continuing in the unparalleled Peace, Love and Happiness project in Barbuda. The project will notice the transformation in the landscape of the island, which will enhance the economic condition of the people.”
Notably, over US$700 million has already been invested in the project, and it is expected that a further US$200 million will be invested in the year 2024. He added that over 400 440 persons have received full-time employment opportunities on this developmental project, including of 260 people from Barbuda.
He emphasized that currently, over 360 contractors are working on the projects around Antigua and Barbuda. Out of these contractors, around 160 are locals.
As per the reports, 24 residential luxury properties will be completed by the Winter season which will guest more than two hundred visitors at the resort.
Besides this, as per Prime Minister Browne, the Antigua and Barbuda Airport authority is also making efforts to ensure that airport meet all requirement. This comes so that an anticipated 30 private jets, can start arriving directly on Barbuda before the end of the year.
While shedding light on the old projects, Prime Minister stated that, “The project of Sunwing International’s Royalton Chic is near to its process of completion. It will made the facility of 235 rooms, a number of suites and over-water bungalows available from April 2024.”
Moreover, the development of 5-star all-inclusive resort and spa has provided hundreds of jobs to the citizens during its construction phase.
The renovation of the other hotel projects includes,
– Renovation of 400 room Jolly Beach Resort
– Construction of 12 additional units at Hammock Cove
– Development of a 30-room wellness spa at Mango Bay
– US$ 15 expansion of Hermitage Bay hotel
– Construction of a Nikki Beach resort and residences
– US$ 100 million expansion of Carlisle Bay Resort
– Construction of 150 room hotel near Yeptons Beach in Five Islands.
