Antigua and Barbuda to host World Wellness Weekend; fostering physical, mental and spiritual health

Antigua and Barbuda is all set to celebrate health and happiness with the World Wellness Weekend from September 20th to 22nd 2024. This weekend filled with several relaxing and exciting wellness activities aims to offer plethora of experiences to all the attendees.
This wellness weekend is being hosted by the tourism authority of Antigua and Barbuda in order to provide an enriching getaway that allows individuals to switch from their daily routines, harmonize their body and mind, and restore their natural rhythms.
While extending invitation to all the citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, the authorities noted that this celebration is a great opportunity for every person to focus on themselves and their health.
“Don’t miss this chance to focus on YOU,” noted the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority.
The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority will host several activities in collaboration with the Wellness Organizations within the twin-island destination and World Wellness Weekend Ambassador Tricia Greenaway – Founder and CEO of Wellness Footprints Antigua.
The activities will kick off from 20th September 2024, happening on both the islands. The activities in Antigua will begin with the event, Tree Planting with the Environmental Division at the Christian Agricultural Centre from 9:00 to 11:00 am.
Following that, the authorities will host the Road Hike from Cedar Grove Playing Field to Coolidge Cricket Grounds via Sid’s Road. This hike is expected to last 1-2 hours, starting from 5:00 am.
After this, the Kickboxing will be conducted where member of Team Antigua Island Girls Kevinia will guide the attendees. It is a fun fitness event where attendees will get a chance to learn kickboxing techniques and improve cardiovascular condition, all while moving to the sweet sounds of soca music. It will be followed by the meditation of the astronaut, Keisha Schahaff.
The authorities will also provide transportation facilities to return participants to their vehicles after the session. After that at 12:00 pm, Tricia Greenaway, the destination’s World Wellness Weekend Ambassador, will host a Spa Day with the girls at The Sunshine Home for Girls charity.
This event will be followed by the Family Fun Day at the John E. St. Luce Financial & Conference Centre from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The attendees will get a chance to enjoy games, activities, entertainment and educational talks.
On the last day of the World Wellness Weekend, the authorities will host Art and Paint with the Sunshine Home for Girls at Turners Beach Bar and Gerron Farquharson will be the artist instructor.
The activities to be held in Barbuda include,
20th September 2024: Free Health Screening & Nutrition Talk (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) at Barbuda Community Wellness Center, Ginnery Street.
21st September 2024: Fitness Fusion’ A combination of Exercise and Endurance (4:30 pm – 6:30 pm) at Holy Trinity School Ground.
21st September 2024: ‘Movie on the Lawn’ at Fisheries Complex (6:00 pm – 7:00 pm)
21st September 2024: Community & Coastal clean-up, beautification and tree planting
22nd September 2024: Special services at local churches
The authorities noted that these activities are being conducted with a vision to foster an individual both spiritually and physically. Therefore, they extended a welcome to all the citizens to be a part of this uplifting experience where they can grow together in faith and health by meditating and celebrating wellness weekend.
