Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit turned 50-year-old on June 8, 2022 (Wednesday). On this auspicious day, many friends and family members wished for PM Skerrit’s healthy and long life.

PM Skerrit was born on June 8, 1972, and is known to be the world’s youngest head of government. He was sworn in as the PM in the year 2004 and succeeded Pierre Charles.

At that time, PM Skerrit was serving as the Member of Parliament for the Vielle Case constituency. The leader of the Dominica Labour Party has also served as the Minister of Finance, Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Affairs, and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade.

After winning the 2005 elections, PM Skerrit became the first democratically elected leader born in the 1970s in the world. He remained the youngest Prime Minister in the Western Hemisphere and the third youngest in the world as of December 2010.

In terms of regional membership, he was the chairman of the OECS- Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States and also chaired Caribbean Community – CARICOM in 2010.

Prime Minister Skerrit has been tirelessly making and executing strategies to build the world’s first climate-resilient nation since 2017 after Hurricane Maria hit and devastated around 90 percent of the population of the country. He has been keeping all the promises made to the residents and citizens of Dominica.
