Vaccination Rollout is smashing success& I have confidence in remaining vaccines too: PM Skerrit

Dominica: In the series of the opening of Health and Wellness centers in Dominica is on its verge, yesterday was the inauguration of Emelda James Health and Wellness Center in Wesley.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit stated, Emelda James Health and Wellness Center in Wesley is one of the twelve centers of Health and wellness, and the rest will be commenced by the government of Dominica in the first quarter of this year.

This emphasizes the current regime’s promise of delivering excellent Primary Health in the nation.

“The Dominica Labour Party has always believed that the health and education sector is fundamental of any developing society, and the bedrock of the government’s efforts is empowering the residents,” PM Skerrit added.

The government emphasizes the wellness of people as the administration is looking forward to safeguarding people from getting sick, not just taking care when people are not well. 

PM Skerrit announced that the government is aiming to build a nation where Annual checkups become a routine. 

It will promote General Health Awareness; further, it will help to rectify the chances of bulk health challenges and lifestyle-based diseases or non-communicable diseases like Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Obesity, and cancer, which are generally caused by unhealthy activities, lack of physical activities, consumption of alcohol and drugs.

The Health Network expansion in these respective areas will prove as the infrastructure support system and the juncture where awareness meets intervention.

Health and Wellness centers will have nutritionists, physiotherapists, and other specialized doctors to interact with the broader population.

PM Skerrit stated, “70% of the population has been inoculated from vaccination, whereas reports circulating about vaccines, none of them have evidence and data regarding these claims.”

“The safety of the vaccine is available to Dominica Government, and it has been established the rollout of the vaccination across the nation including Dominica, and it had been smashing success; I have confidence in remaining vaccines too,” he added.
