Trinidadian track cyclist Nicholas Paul finished first at 2021 UCI Track Cycling Nations Cup

Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidadian track cyclist – Nicholas Paul once again registered his name in history by winning another gold medal at the – 2021 UCI Track Cycling Nations Cup in Cali, Colombia. 

Just 24 hours before, the 22-year-old confirmed his gold medal in men’s one-kilometre time-trial, prior to Akil Campbell’s added to the – team’s dream run with a gold medal in the men’s elimination in the finale race that took place on Friday night. The three gold medals now observe team TTO on an original lead in the overall standings.

Paul measured 10.452 seconds in his keirin final on Saturday night, just a few hours after he set the condition for another outstanding outing with a blistering time of 10.105 seconds in the first round, which is the quickest time of the four heats.

While getting very little time for rest, the 22-year-old continued his performance in his best form from the night before into Saturday morning. One day prior, Paul dominated the competition in the men’s one-kilometre time trial by being the only rider to dip under the 1-minute mark in both the qualifiers and final, making way to his first gold medal. 

To win his first Nations Cup gold, Trinidadian track cyclist finished in 59.378 seconds. In the meantime, Keron Bramble also represented TTO in the first round and ended third in his heat, behind the two automatic second-round qualifiers. He bagged third again in the first round repechage and was not able to qualify for the second round.  

Nicholas Paul was born on 23 September in the year of 1998 is a Trinidadian track cyclist who specializes in the sprinting events.

• Paul dropped the record to 9.100 seconds, cutting 0.247 off the previous record set by Frenchman Francois Pervis in Aguascalientes, Mexico in December 2013.
